Ingredients
- 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and sliced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten (or plant-based alternative)
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Olive oil, for cooking
- Fresh basil, for garnish (optional)
Directions
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a skillet with olive oil.
Step 2:
Coat tofu slices in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then dredge in breadcrumb-Parmesan mixture.
Step 3:
Bake for 20–25 minutes (flipping halfway) or pan-fry until golden and crispy.
Step 4:
Top each tofu slice with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Step 5:
Return to oven and bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 6:
Garnish with fresh basil and serve hot.
