Ingredients
- 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or fusilli)
- 12 oz sausage (Italian or chicken sausage), sliced or crumbled
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley or basil, for garnish
Directions
Step 1:
Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2:
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3:
In the same skillet, sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly.
Step 4:
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Simmer for 8–10 minutes.
Step 5:
Lower heat and stir in cream and Parmesan cheese until smooth.
Step 6:
Add sausage and cooked pasta. Toss until evenly coated and heated through.
Step 7:
Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
