Ingredients
- 14 oz (400 g) firm tofu, pressed and sliced
- 1/2 cup cornstarch or flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Oil, for frying or baking
- 4 sandwich buns or bread slices
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Cucumber or onion slices (optional)
- Mayonnaise, vegan mayo, or yogurt sauce
- Chili sauce or mustard (optional)
Directions
Step 1:
Pat tofu dry and slice into sandwich-size pieces.
Step 2:
Mix cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Coat tofu slices evenly.
Step 3:
Pan-fry tofu in hot oil until golden and crispy on both sides (or bake at 400°F / 200°C for 25 minutes, flipping once).
Step 4:
Toast bread lightly.
Step 5:
Spread mayo or sauce on bread, add lettuce, crispy tofu, tomato, and other veggies.
Step 6:
Close sandwich, slice, and serve warm.
