Crispy Tofu Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 14 oz (400 g) firm tofu, pressed and sliced
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch or flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Oil, for frying or baking
  • 4 sandwich buns or bread slices
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Cucumber or onion slices (optional)
  • Mayonnaise, vegan mayo, or yogurt sauce
  • Chili sauce or mustard (optional)

Directions

Step 1:
Pat tofu dry and slice into sandwich-size pieces.

Step 2:
Mix cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Coat tofu slices evenly.

Step 3:
Pan-fry tofu in hot oil until golden and crispy on both sides (or bake at 400°F / 200°C for 25 minutes, flipping once).

Step 4:
Toast bread lightly.

Step 5:
Spread mayo or sauce on bread, add lettuce, crispy tofu, tomato, and other veggies.

Step 6:
Close sandwich, slice, and serve warm.
