Ingredients
- 14 ounces firm tofu, pressed and cubed
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chili paste or chili garlic sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
- Chopped green onions or sesame seeds (for garnish)
Directions
Step 1:
Pat the tofu dry and toss it with cornstarch until evenly coated.
Step 2:
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the tofu cubes until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside.
Step 3:
In the same skillet, add sesame oil and sauté minced garlic for 20–30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 4:
Stir in chili paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or sugar), water, and chili flakes. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Step 5:
Add the crispy tofu back into the skillet and toss until fully coated in the sauce.
Step 6:
Remove from heat and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds before serving.
