Ingredients
- 12 oz pasta (penne, rigatoni, or ziti)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish
Directions
Step 1:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
Step 2:
Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 3:
Heat olive oil in a skillet. Sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly.
Step 4:
Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 8–10 minutes.
Step 5:
In a bowl, combine cooked pasta with tomato sauce and ricotta cheese.
Step 6:
Transfer mixture to baking dish. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Step 7:
Bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
Step 8:
Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.
